Tom began his career with Nautilus Insurance Group in January 1986 and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since October 1997. Tom previously held the position of Vice President of Underwriting before moving to his current position within the company. He has over 35 years of experience in the Excess and Surplus Lines industry focusing on Commercial Property and Casualty insurance. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Arizona State University and attained the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 1991.
Wendy began her career with Nautilus Insurance Group in May 1986 and is currently serving as Senior Vice President, Agency Development. Wendy became an officer of Nautilus in October 1997. Her tenure with Nautilus includes Chief Underwriting Officer, Senior Property Casualty Underwriter, Underwriting Assistant Manager and Manager of the Product Development unit. She holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Mike began his career with Nautilus Insurance Group in September 1987 and is currently serving as Senior Vice President, Special Projects and Operation. Prior to joining Nautilus, Mike worked for Crawford and Company and Great Southwest Fire Insurance. Mike has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Mike is a member of the International Association of Claim Professionals and is a Certified Mediator through Pepperdine University.
Brad began his career with Nautilus Insurance Group in December 2010 as Vice President/Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining Nautilus, Brad worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance as Senior Director Commercial Lines IT. He has over 20 years of IT experience, including organizational development, technology strategy and project delivery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.
Tom has worked in the insurance industry for 30 years and is currently the Sr. Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for Nautilus. Tom worked for St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company in various technical and leadership roles and then spent the past 20 years with the Scottsdale Group, most recently as Vice President of Claim Operations. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Arizona University, and holds a number of professional designations, including an Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance and Associate in Claim Law.
Trish has more than 33 years of experience in the Excess & Surplus Lines insurance industry with significant expertise in leading project management and strategic business initiatives. After joining Nautilus in 2016, she served as Vice President of Business Strategic Projects while leading the design and implementation of a claims management system. Prior to Nautilus, Trish worked as a Claims leader at a Fortune 100 insurance carrier. She holds a Master’s degree in Applied Communication for Northern Arizona University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Marymount College.
Brent began his career with Nautilus Insurance Group in February of 2015 and leads the Actuarial Department. He previously worked for the Scottsdale Insurance Group until moving to his current position with the company. Brent's previous work experience includes 20 years in various actuarial roles, most recently as a Pricing Director, and nearly 3 years as an Underwriting Product and Data Analysis Director. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science), Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).
Thomas Pytel, Jr.
Tom began his career with Nautilus Insurance Group in December of 2014 and leads Marketing and Communications. He comes to Nautilus Insurance Group from CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, where he served as vice president of Marketing and Communications, Direct Sales and Agency Management. Previously, Tom worked for Allied World Assurance Company where he served as assistant vice president and the creative lead for all global marketing and product marketing initiatives. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design.
Karen began her career with Nautilus Insurance Group in April of 2016 and leads Human Resources. She comes to Nautilus from Terros Health, where she served as Senior Director of Human Resources. Karen has over 19 years of human resources experience in a variety of industries, and has been leading HR teams for over 10 years. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Communication) and Master of Business Administration degrees, as well as SPHR and SHRM-SCP senior human resources professional designations.
